Past Donations

Year: 2007

  • Hurrican Sidr Relief Effort: A total of $2900 (TK 2 Lakh) was donated to assist with relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Sidr.
  • Helping student registration costs: A total of $350 was donated to Drishtipat Virginia to help with student registration costs in the Bhobodoho area in Jessore.

Year: 2006

  • Helping a sick child: $200 was donated from ABS fund for the treatment of a poor Bangladeshi child named Nayreet
  • Helping a sick Bangladeshi Student: A total $200 was raised and donated by ABS for the treatment of a poor Bangladeshi Student of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Agricultre University. Of this $200, $75 was given from ABS fund and the rest came from community members

Year: 2005

  • Pakistan Earthquake: We have donated $400 to Pakistan, India earthquake victims. Of this $400, $90 came from ABS fund and the rest was raised from the community members

Year: 2004

  • Flood of 2004: ABS arranged a fundraising campaign for the flood victims of Bangladesh. We are proud to say we were able to collect $1500 from our alumni and current members. ABS itself has donated $500 from its own fund. So that made it $2000 in total!
  • Helping Medical Student: ABS has donated $200 to a meritorious student of Sir Salimullah Medical College to continue his higher education
  • Tsunami of 2004: ABS has donated $250 in United Nations Fund for the Asian Tsunami of 2004 via Cranwell International Student Center, Virginia Tech

  • Acid Survival Fund: ABS has donated a total of $200 to 'The Daily Prothom Alo's Acid Victim Fund

  • Gujrat Earthquake: We have donated $100 to Gujrat, India earthquake victims from ABS fund
    • Iranian Earthquake: ABS has donate a token $100 to earthquake victims of Iran

Year: 2001

  • Mourning 911 Victims: ABS joined the Virginia Tech community in condemning the September 11 attack. Our students worked with Hokie United for a unified stand as a community against the gruesome attack. ABS donated $100 to Red Cross for Relief purpose
  • Cheye Dekho Campaign: ABS raised a fund to support the minority Hindu oppression victims in Bangladesh. Thanks to our alumni and friends; we were able to donate $430 to Drishtipat, a humanitarian organization for this noble cause

  • Helping Native Student: ABS has donated $300 to a native 'Shawtal' student of Rajshahi University to further continue his education
